   Ministry Image

It is with great joy that we welcome you to the official website of the Ministry of Altar Servers - Nasipit. We are a dedicated group of young men, who, with deep faith and love, serve at the altar of the Lord. Our ministry is a sacred and humble duty, one that allows us to assist the priest and engage fully in the liturgical life of the Church.

The Ministry of Altar Servers plays an integral role in fostering reverence and devotion during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Our service extends beyond simply assisting the priest at Mass; we are representatives of the wider parish community, and through our actions, we aim to embody the spirit of service, respect, and prayerfulness.

As an altar server, one has the privilege of growing in deeper communion with God through active participation in the sacred liturgy. It is a unique opportunity to deepen one’s faith, cultivate discipline, and develop a sense of responsibility. Through our ministry, we become examples of devotion to our fellow parishioners, especially the younger members of the community.

On this website, you will find valuable resources to help you in getting to know our Ministry, at the same time, your journey as a parishioner. We provide information on the different aspects of our ministry and opportunities to participate in training sessions. You will also find information regarding where you can further engage with our parish and community.

Our ministry also extends to acts of charity, service, and outreach in the broader community. We are proud to take part in various initiatives that support the spiritual and material needs of others, including feeding programs, visits to the sick, and participating in parish events. These experiences help us to grow not just as servers but as individuals dedicated to living out the gospel values of love, compassion, and humility.

We invite all current and aspiring altar servers to explore this website and join us in this blessed calling. Whether you are new to the ministry or have been serving for many years, there is always room to grow in your faith and in your service to the Lord. If you are considering becoming an altar server, we encourage you to take the first step toward this rewarding vocation.

May this website serve as a helpful resource and a place of inspiration as we continue to serve our Lord and our community. Together, let us strive to live by the words of Christ, who said, “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve” (Mark 10:45). We look forward to journeying with you as we continue to grow in faith and service.

Beyond our liturgical duties, altar servers in general, often form strong bonds with fellow members of the parish community, fostering a spirit of teamwork and unity. Through our service, they help maintain the sacred atmosphere of the Church and encourage others to actively participate in the faith, showing that devotion can be expressed in both small and meaningful ways.

Thank you for visiting, and may God bless you as you continue to serve at His altar.

THE DECREE OF ERECTION OF THE PARISH

   Ministry Image

Most. Rev John Vrakking, DD, a Dutch missionary of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC), served as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Surigao. Recognizing the unique needs of the growing Catholic community, he saw that the faithful in the Nasipit area required more direct pastoral support, separate from the parish in Buenavista. This vision and understanding of the spiritual and community needs led him to advocate for the establishment of a new parish that could serve the people of Nasipit more effectively.

His efforts and foresight ultimately paved the way for the creation of Saint Michael Parish in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. This new parish not only offered more accessible pastoral care but also strengthened the community's faith foundation. Under the patronage of Saint Michael the Archangel, this parish became a center for worship, sacraments, and community life, meeting the specific needs of Nasipit’s faithful and promoting a closer connection to the Church.

   Ministry Image

Rev. Fr. Francisco Van Dijk, MSC, appointed as the first parish priest of our newly established parish under the patronage of Saint Michael the Archangel. As the inaugural pastor, Fr. Van Dijk’s arrival marked the start of a new chapter for our community, formally establishing it as a parish and setting the stage for future growth. Though we may not have records of his day-to-day contributions, his presence as the parish's first leader holds a significant place in our history. The early years of our parish’s life under his care became the bedrock upon which later generations would continue to build and strengthen this faith community.

While the details of those early years may be sparse, the establishment of our parish and Fr. Van Dijk’s role in leading it are lasting symbols of our community’s commitment to worship and unity under the patronage of Saint Michael. Remembering our history not only honors our origins but also encourages us to carry forward the spirit of our founding, as we continue to grow together in faith and service.

The interior design of Saint Michael Parish, as captured in this early photograph, offers a glimpse into the church’s historical ambiance and architectural choices from its initial years. While specific details about the original interior design are limited, this image provides a sense of the simplicity and devotion that characterized the parish’s early days.

The photograph shows the basic structure and layout, reflecting a design that focused on creating a welcoming and sacred space for the community. The modest, unembellished features suggest that the initial priority was functionality and accessibility, allowing the parish to serve as a gathering place for worship and community life. Although the interior has likely evolved over time, this early view of Saint Michael Parish is a testament to the dedication of its founders and the enduring legacy they established for future generations.

   Ministry Image

This image, one of the earliest portraits taken outside the parish, captures a moment in the life of the Saint Michael Parish community, surrounded by the church’s simple yet enduring architecture. The photograph shows a group of people gathered in front of the church, likely parishioners, local families, and perhaps clergy or lay leaders, united in celebration or community gathering. Their presence outside the parish reflects the strong bond between the church and its community—a relationship rooted in faith and shared experience.

Although much time has passed since this photo was taken, the expressions and postures of those in the image convey a sense of pride, unity, and devotion that resonates even today. This gathering outside the parish building speaks to the role of the church not only as a place of worship but as a center of community and connection, where people came together to celebrate milestones, support one another, and find comfort in faith. This historical portrait serves as a visual reminder of the early generations who helped establish and nurture Saint Michael Parish, laying the foundation for the thriving community it is today.

This unique three-in-one photograph offers a rare glimpse into the early days of what has become a lasting legacy in the community of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. On the left, we see the original Saint Michael Institute, the first school established by the parish to provide faith-based education to local youth. Over the years, the institute evolved and expanded, eventually becoming what we know today as Saint Michael College of Caraga. Now a prominent educational institution in the region, Saint Michael College of Caraga continues the mission started by Saint Michael Institute, shaping the lives of countless students with an emphasis on academic excellence and values rooted in Catholic tradition.

In the center of the photograph stands the original convent, which served as the residence for the parish clergy and religious staff who dedicated themselves to serving both the spiritual and social needs of the community. This modest building was more than just a home for the parish’s leaders; it was a place where they lived out their commitment to fostering faith, education, and outreach. The convent symbolized the heart of the parish, embodying the spirit of service and devotion that lay at the core of Saint Michael Parish’s mission.

To the right of the image, we see the Saint Michael Parish church as it stood in 1948, a place of worship and community gathering. The church’s presence in the photo highlights its role as the spiritual anchor for the people of Nasipit, offering a sacred space for Mass, sacraments, and moments of personal prayer. The trio of buildings—the school, convent, and church—reflects the comprehensive mission of Saint Michael Parish: to nurture faith, provide education, and build a strong community grounded in Catholic values. This photograph captures a pivotal moment in the parish’s history, serving as a reminder of its enduring impact on the lives of those it has touched over the decades.

Prayers

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection
against the wickedness
and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him,
we humbly pray; And do thou,
O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan
and all evil spirits who
wander through the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

The Holy Rosary Prayer

O God, whose only-begotten Son,
by His life, death, and resurrection,
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life,
grant, we beseech Thee,
that by meditating upon these mysteries
of the Most Holy Rosary,
of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain
and obtain what they promise,
through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, Father Almighty
maker of Heaven and Earth
I believe in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord
who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, He suffered under
Pontious Pilate, He was crucified, died and was burried;
He decended unto the dead; and on the third day He
rose again, He ascended into Heaven;
and is seated on the right hand of the Father;
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting, Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us, sinners;
now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be world
without end, Amen.

Fatima Prayer

O my Jesus,
forgive us our sins;
save us from the fires of Hell,
and bring all souls into Heaven,
especially those, in need
most of your Divine Mercy.

Hail, Holy Queen!

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy;
hail our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry; poor banished
children of Eve. To thee do we send
up our sighs, mourning and weeping
through this valley of tears.
Turn then most gracious advocate
your eyes of mercy towards us,
and after this, our exile;
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
that we may be made worthy, of the promises of Christ.

Prayer Before Mass
